The Principles of Effortless Power (Cheng Hsin)

This is my somewhat battered 1989 copy of Peter Ralston's book "Cheng Hsin - The Principles of Effortless Power". It provided me with really helpful information for my Tai Chi practice.

I've since bought newer versions including digital. If you are interested in body being and consciousness work this is a must read.

Mind and Principles for Success

Great clip from Peter Ralston.

Of note: Punching with the body and compression.

My favourite books

I came across Cheng Hsin: the principles of effortless power  by Peter Ralston in 1990. This is my first copy and is a bit battered now.

It is full of useful stuff about posture, alignment etc but what is most interesting and resonated strongly with me is the discussion about relationships.

All partner work in Tai chi is a study in relationships and is a life long pursuit!

If you haven't read it, get it!

Cheng Hsin: Peter Ralston

Not long after I started learning Tai Chi with John Kells, I came across Peter Ralston's book " Cheng Hsin - Principles of Effortless Power".

It contained lots of useful insights and investigation of principles. My first copy is so battered I've had to buy another one. The clip below is superb.
