Tired?

 I recall my teacher telling us in a class that if we were only physically tired we should still practice our Tai Chi.

On the other hand if were mentally tired, then we should abstain as we would only be practicing being tired.

Flourishes

 Years ago my teacher advised us not to make flourishes in our form.

This is an affectation, a reflection of Ego.

Hey, look at me, my tai chi looks pretty.

Tai Chi as a form is not meant to look pretty. Flourishes are an external manifestation.
